Hello and welcome to the Post 642 Adjutants Page:
Updating Personal Info in MyLegion.org
With the start of 2026, this is a great opportunity for members to check out their personal data on mylegion.org to ensure all the information is up to date. It’s quick and easy, go to mylegion.org if you already have a login then click on the icon and once you are logged in, click on my account. This will take you to your my account page. On the left is where the various sections of your account information are stored. Click on each of those sections, review the info, and make any additions, changes as required. Once this is saved it will be uploaded into the Legion database. While you are there you can subscribe to various email newsletters and dispatches to receive the latest Legion happenings. Those who do not yet have an account, once you are on the mylegion.org page click on the register icon and follow the instructions to register. Once you have registered, then follow the instructions above for account holders. I will be sending out hard copies of legion members’ info for those who have not yet provided their email addresses or do not have email.
ADJUTANT'S UPDATE
April showers bring May flowers and as we enter the month of May everything remains green here in the bay area. I should note that due to the reduced attendance at our April meeting we did not open the floor for nominations for the officers for the upcoming 2026-27 Legion Year at our Post. We will be doing so at our 4 May 2026 meeting,
As a reminder here are the current elected positions that we will be accepting nominations for:
Position Current Officer
Commander Vince Guinnane
1st Vice Commander Cassius Willamson
2nd Vice Commander Vacant
3rd Vice Commander James Barnhart
Adjutant Arturo Thiele-Sardina
Finance Officer Arturo Thiele-Sardina (Acting/Temporary)
Seargent of Arms Ken Klinkowski
Judge Advocate Bob Devlin
Historian Dennis Whittaker
Chaplain Bill Reichard
Please consider running or filling one of these positions as part of your membership in the American Legion. The elected Post Officers represent you and as an officer you have the change to make changes and drive new programs, meeting agendas. As our Post gets smaller in size and older, several officers are no longer able to perform their duties and positions are either vacant or temporarily filled. Please consider serving this upcoming year!
I was able to attend the Sam Liccardo Veterans Meet and Greet luncheon that was hosted by the MOAA several weeks ago. The turnout was impressive, as over 100 Veterans, spouses, and drilling reservists and active duty military personnel were in attendance. The topics covered ranged from the Commissary at Moffett, to housing, Veteran compensation, and other related issues that impact Veterans and those still serving. He spoke and then opened the floor for questions, and his staff followed up with the audience regarding specific issues raised.
Memorial Day will be held later this month on 25 May 2026, and there will be various ceremonies held within Cupertino, San Jose, Los Gatos, and other nearby communities. Please look at our Post calendar on the website to see what ceremonies will be held on Memorial Day and the other events held by our Post and surrounding Posts.
“Duty First”
Arturo
